This fantastic Search tool is not even a Search Engine!
For the average Joe, one of the best search tools around is the Search Box in Yahoo Answers. If you're not familiar with Yahoo Answers, it's a huge community covering almost every interest and lifestyle. In a nutsell, you join up, find a niche and ask a question. Depending on the type of question, you can expect one to five hundred answers, many of which may solve your problem instantly. Like any community service, Yahoo Answers is abused to the point of stupidity. For example, in the Computer section you will see the question "How do I create a web site?" appear a hundred times a day, often one on top of the other. Oddly, these repetitive questions do get answered, simply because there are more people prepared to give answers than there are asking questions. "But how can Yahoo Answers help me as a search tool?" I hear you ask. Well just above the list of recent questions in your particular niche, the is a small Search box. If you're looking for a good digital camera for instance, just enter "Good digital camera" and wait for a listing of hundreds of answers to previous questions asking the same thing. You'll always get those idiot responses of course, but the average answer could prove to be exactly the the one you're looking for. Yahoo Answers is best used for searches where a question is involved. Sounds natual doesn't it? If you need to find the answer to questions like: How do I crop a photo?
How do I groom my cat?
Who's the best rock guitarist?
Whats a good cheap hotel in Paris? Don't even bother with Google, Alta Vista or Yahoo. Just head for the search box at Yahoo Answers, or if you want to make it personal, just ask! |
